The 33rd April Spring Friendship Art Festival Upcoming

Amid the great interest of the progressive artistes of the world, the 33rd April Spring Friendship Art Festival will be held between April 11 and 25, Juche 113 (2024) in Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The April Spring Friendship Art Festival, which started in April Juche 71 (1982), is aimed at developing exchanges and cooperation among men of culture and artistes of the world on the basis of the ideals of independence, peace and friendship.

The forthcoming festival, which will draw international contest winners and other famous artists of authoritative art, acrobatic and dance troupes, will serve as a meaningful occasion in promoting friendship, unity exchanges and cooperation among men of culture and artistes from different countries of the world.

Some of art groups which so far have applied for participation in the 33rd April Spring Friendship Art Festival are as follows:

- The dance troupe of Payal Institute of India

The dance troupe's basic mission is education in folk dance and its dissemination.

Its performances received high appreciation at folk dance festivals held at home and abroad.

- The Mizia Folklore Ensemble of Bulgaria

The ensemble, the majority of whose performance programmes is traditional songs and other musical works and dances, has a history of 60 years.

It has staged more than 5 000 performances at home and abroad and taken part in national and international art festivals. In the course of this, it has won the Order of Kiril First Class, honorary certificates and medals.

- The Strauss Festival Orchester Wien, Austria

Led by the world-famous musician Peter Guth, the orchestra sets it forward as its principle to create genuine tunes of Vienna that reflect the truthful, emotional and genuine Viennese music.

It has taken part in celebrated festivals held in many countries of the world and, in particular, it puts the focus of its yearly activities on the participation in the Orchester Festival held in Vienna.

- The Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble

The ensemble has made a great contribution to developing the country's national culture by actively introducing and propagating its traditionl folk dances through its performances at home and abroad. For this, it was awarded the title of Merited Organization of Azerbaijan.

- Acrobats from the Czech

The acrobats have given hundreds of performances in a year, travelling European countries including Poland and Germany as well as in the cultural centres and gyms in Prague and other parts of the Czech Republic.

Its main repertoire includes funny comic tricks and physical stunts performed with hands and feet.

- The Amapola Quartet of Switzerland

Its main repertoire includes classical works and other works it has arranged, and its members are all competent and famous artistes.

It has taken part in the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, musical festival held in Switzerland, Paléo Festival, and it was awarded the prestigious Orpheus at the Swiss Chamber Music Competition in 2022.
